hey lads i ranted at myself in an attempt to untangle the mess that is the history of british aristocracy and monarchy, and slightly strained my throat lmao
#*deep space noises*#its all just. very stupid and complicated#although i do think its very funny in an absurdist way that william the conqueror invaded britain and seized the throne#as a man from normandy and created the modern english and- by consequence- british monarchy#but did it like. too well?? and so created a problem down the line with british-french nobility#because the french connections to english aristocracy are like. rooted#but the nobles of france were like 'o christ whatever ol' will spawned over there is getting pretty powerful#AND they have land over here too because -see above-'#trying to read abt it is exhausting because im just like this is all so fucking ridiculous and i hate you all#can you not invade somewhere??? for five minutes????????? why are you all obsessed with land holy shit i do not understand
